CELEBRATE LENT WITH US
Lent is a 40-day period of prayer, repentance, and preparation leading up to Holy Week and Easter Sunday, when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. We would love for you to celebrate this most sacred time of year with us at Brockport First Baptist. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the weeks ahead…
Ash Wednesday Labyrinth
March 5, 11am-1pm, 5-7pm
Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent — a time to reflect on our own mortality and to thank God for the gift of eternal life. Our prayer labyrinth will be open from 11am-1pm and again from 5-7pm. Stop by to walk and receive ashes anytime during those two windows Our labyrinth takes about 30 minutes to walk. It is a quiet, prayerful way to begin the Lenten season.
Lenten Teaching Series:
”The Origin of Sin”
Sundays at 10am
Repentance is a huge theme of Lent – the act of examining our lives and turning away from sin. Join us for worship on Sunday mornings throughout Lent as we explore the origins of sin in a seven-week series on Genesis 1-11.
We will be looking at the Fall of Adam and Eve, the Noah story, Cain and Abel, and a number of other well known stories from the opening pages of Scripture that explore how death and corruption worked their way into God’s good creation.
Maundy Thursday
Dinner + Foot Washing
April 17, 6pm
Join us on Maundy Thursday for a time of worship centered around the dinner table. We will enjoy a simple meal, along with liturgy, singing, Scripture readings, and a foot washing ceremony (echoing Jesus and the disciples) after dinner.
Thursday, April 17 at 6pm.
Resurrection Sunday!
April 20, 9am-Noon
Join us for worship on Sunday, April 20 as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord! The morning will be jam packed with events, including:
Breakfast at 9am in the Fellowship Hall
Worship at 10am in the Sanctuary
Easter Egg Hunt for the kids immediately after worship
It is going to be a great time of celebration as we lift our voices in praise to the God who defeated death and comes to wake us up to the new life that is possible in Christ.
If you have questions about any of these events, please contact the church and let us know!
