IT’S THE MOST SACRED TIME OF THE YEAR!

No season of the year is more sacred than Lent — the season of reflection and preparation leading up to Holy Week and Easter Sunday, when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. We would love for you to celebrate this special time of year with us at Brockport First Baptist. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the weeks ahead:

Ash Wednesday Labyrinth
february 26, 5:00-6:30 pm

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent — a time to reflect on our own mortality, the fact that we were made from dust and will one day return to dust, and to thank God for the gift of life. Our labyrinth will be available this Ash Wednesday from 5-6:30pm. Swing by after work to walk the labyrinth, receive ashes from Pastor Dan, and find a quiet space for prayer in the sanctuary.

All are welcome. Bring a friend.

Metaphors of the Cross.png

Lenten sermon series: “Metaphors of the cross”
Sundays, March 1 - April 5, 2020

Why did Jesus have to die? How is it that the death of one man saved all of humanity from sin? Why did God require an innocent man to die before God would offer forgiveness to the world? The church has wrestled with these and many other questions related to the cross for centuries. In response, Christian thinkers have put forward various metaphors for understanding the cross, and how Jesus’ death makes our salvation possible.

Join us for worship at 10am every Sunday in Lent, as we explore these Metaphors of the Cross and grapple with the question: Why did Jesus have to die?

Maundy thursday - Illuminations of the cross
April 9, 5:00-8:00 PM

Maundy Thursday commemorates Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples. This year, we’ll be celebrating Maundy Thursday by re-living the events the lead from the Last Supper to Jesus’ crucifixion at the hands of the Roman Empire. Join us for an interactive walk through the various stations of Jesus’ journey to the cross. It will be a creative, reflective, and engaging experience for people of all ages.

Admission is free, but space for this immersive experience is limited — so please call the church today to reserve your time slot: (585) 637-9770.

resurrection sunday!

We’re pulling out all the stops this year! Join us on Sunday, April 12 as we come together to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord. The morning will be jam packed with events, including:

  • Breakfast at 9am in the Fellowship Hall

  • Worship at 10am in the Sanctuary

  • An Easter Egg Hunt for the kiddos immediately after the service

It’s gonna be a fun time of celebration as we lift our voices in praise to the God who defeated death and comes to wake us up to the new life that is possible in Christ.

If you have questions about any of these services, please contact us and let us know!
